Heat Distortion Temperature Modification Of Rigid PVC And Chlorinated PVC: A Method To Produce Low Smoke Compositions

The use of a new low smoke, heat distortion temperature modifier for rigid PVC and chlorinated PVC is discussed. This material, CN-1427, is a tetrabromobisphenol A carbonate oligomer which is compatible with vinyl compositions. The carbonate oligomer can be compounded into PVC resin to improve heat distortion temperature of PVC and CPVC by 20–30°C. Unlike […]

Understanding Chemistry of Clear Brine Fluids … Best Performance

Selecting a Clear Brine Fluid (CBF) for deepwater completion is-or at least should be-a complex process. Impaired production experiences are caused by localized corrosion, stress crack failures of tubing metallurgy or by formation damage, as fluids react chemically with production gases or fluid additives. Besides technical complexity, economics drives operators to seek a thorough understanding […]

Stabilized Solutions of Bromonitromethane and Their Use as Biocides

Stable solutions of bromonitromethane are prepared and shown to be useful as an antimicrobial in a broad spectrum of applications. Bromonitromethane is applied using a stable aqueous solution or is generated from products which act as bromonitromethane donors. Bromonitromethane solutions are stabilized by the addition of a mineral acid. SUGGESTED CITATION Stabilized Solutions of Bromonitromethane […]

Flame Retardant Hot Melt Adhesive Compositions Using Brominated Styrene/Atactic Polypropylene Graft Copolymers

Flame retardant hot melt adhesives include atactic polypropylene having grafted thereon a ring-halogenated styrene. The compositions may also include homopolymers of the styrene monomer or equivalents, as well as non-halogenated atactic polypropylene. Tackifying agents, waxes, anti-oxidants and other additives may also be included. SUGGESTED CITATION Flame Retardant Hot Melt Adhesive Compositions Using Brominated Styrene/Atactic Polypropylene […]
